He’s sweet I know, he’s sweet I know, dark clouds may rise, stormy winds may blow, I’ll tell the world, wherever I may go, that I have found the savior and he’s sweet I know.
During a worship service, saints would often sing this song detailing the character of God. The lyrics testified to the fact that no matter how dark days became, the saints were determined to go all the way with God. Psalm 119 is a poem often read or sung to musical tunes.
It is the longest chapter in the bible, composed of 176 verses and divided into 22 stanzas. Verse 103 says: “How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” Just as the saints of today sing about the sweetness of God, the writer of this scripture felt the same way in his time. God has a way of making his children happy. He shows us his love for us and teaches us how to love others. He leaves traces of his covenant with us through beautiful rainbows in the sky. He gives us the birds for our listening pleasure and leaves a variety of colorful flowers in the spring time for us to enjoy.
All throughout the bible, we can find God’s promises to us. He made us for his pleasure, but also thinks about each of us individually each day by providing not only our needs, but our wants too. He gives us joy in times of sorrow, provides hope to those who have been told there is none, and also happens to be a mighty deliverer. Solomon wrote “the blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”
Prayer: God, thank you for being so sweet, loyal, kind and loving. Help us to be sweet to one another just as you are to us. We admonish you this day and for the days to come. Help us to see your effort to please us just as you have asked us to be pleasing in your eyesight. In Jesus name, it is so!
