Do you remember the last time someone expressed interest in dating you? They made it known by either telling you their intention verbally, through written expression or assistance from a mutual friend. They knew the only way they would get you to understand how they felt was if they first got your undivided attention. Whether it was with a sweet compliment, personal note or flowers, you knew how to make yourself stand out from the rest of the competition.
The approach to winning a soul to the Kingdom of God is very similar to that. Like dating, effective soul winning requires a balance of showing genuine interest while being respectful and considerate to the individual.
Gone are the days where a weak and uninformed compliment that objectifies physical appearance is good enough to flatter them into saying yes.
Like dating, effective soul winning requires a balance of showing genuine interest while being respectful and considerate to the individual.
It would be considered highly inappropriate to use profanity or use frivolous language to try to get their attention, especially publicly. Begging, nagging or being a pest can be viewed as dogmatic and something we have to check our own selves to make sure we are not guilty of.
Proverbs 11:30 tells us “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” The bible also says “Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” We have to pray, plan and strategically create goals that support the mission Jesus gave us: go into the world and spread His gospel. If this means crafting our words in a way that shows we genuinely care about the people we are trying to win into the Kingdom of God, then lets turn our thinking caps on and use the brains God gifted us.
